Who we are

Solent & Co is a small workshop based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, focused on creating leather and canvas goods built to last a lifetime. Each piece is made by hand using premium full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather sourced from renowned American and Italian tanneries, along with select waxed canvas chosen for its durability and character.

We believe the best materials improve with time. Our goods are designed for daily use, meant to be carried, worn, and lived with. Over the years, they develop a patina unique to their owner, telling a story that can’t be replicated.

A Personal Note

I’m Hannah, the owner and maker behind Solent & Co

I was born and raised on the south coast of England, along the Solent—an area shaped by maritime history and a deep respect for materials that stand up to time and use. In 2001, I moved to the United States after being recruited to swim at a university in upstate New York. I later transferred to the University of Arkansas in 2003, where I continued to compete. Northwest Arkansas has been home ever since.

After earning both a BS and MS from the University of Arkansas and spending over 15 years in corporate America, I stepped away to focus on making things by hand.

Our Materials & Approach

Solent and Co grew out of more than seven years of working with leather. From the start, we chose to use full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather because it retains the natural character of the hide — subtle scars and markings that speak to its authenticity. Rather than masking these details, we embrace them. No two pieces are the same, and with use, the leather develops a patina unique to its owner.

We source from trusted tanneries such as Horween, Wickett & Craig, Hermann Oak, and Sepici known for producing some of the finest leathers available. We pair these materials with high-grade hardware, most often solid brass, chosen for its durability and ability to age alongside the leather.

For those seeking something truly distinctive, we also offer select exotic hides upon request.

Every product is made with longevity in mind, from material selection to construction. We stand behind our work with a lifetime workmanship warranty.
